their membership and range safety cards at all times. Expect challenges if you do
not display your cards.
A. A member may have only two (2) guests on the range at any given
time.
B. Members are responsible for the conduct and safety of
their guests.
C. Members must accompany and supervise guests or family
members under age eighteen (18).
D. All alcoholic beverages are banned from the range while
any firing lines are in use.
E. Range hours are local sunrise to sunset. NO
night firing allowed.
F. Keep gate locked at all times, except during
organized events.
G. Each member is responsible for policing the range when
the member and guests have completed firing.
H. If you bring it to the range, leave with it or place in
the proper containers.
I. Place refuse in provided trash cans.
(Targets, ammo boxes, food and drink containers, wrappers, food, etc.)
J. Collect and place spent brass in provided
buckets.
2) Do not drive vehicles on the
ranges! Road vehicles must remain on the designated access roads and parking
lots.
A. Only three-wheeler and four-wheeler ATV-Type
vehicles allowed on ranges.
B. DO NOT drive ANY vehicles across plowed and/or planted
farmland.
3) Members and guests must exercise safe range
practices at all times.
A. Everyone is required to wear adequate ear and eye protection
when on the firing line to prevent damage to hearing and sight.
B. No one goes down range until all firearms are unloaded,
actions open, and the firearms placed in the provided gun racks.
C. DO NOT clean, case, handle, move, load, or touch ANY
firearm while anyone is down range.
D. DO NOT clean, case, handle, move, load, or touch ANY
firearm any time a cleanup crew is working on the range.
E. Ask specific permission before handling firearms of
other members and guests in the racks or on the benches.
4) Mount all targets on the range target boards so
bullets passing through targets will not damage support frames.
5) Use only paper, cardboard, corrugated
plastic/paper-board, or approved steel silhouette or Popper-type
targets.
A. Do not use glass containers, soft drink and beer cans, boxes,
plastic containers, jugs, clay birds, etc. as targets.
B. Do not shoot targets on ground or lying on impact berm.
6) DO NOT cross fire on the rifle deck! (i.e.
Bench number and target number must match. Shoot 300-yard targets from benches
marked 300 Yards, shoot 200-yard targets from benches marked 200
Yards, shoot 100-yard targets from benches marked 100 Yards, etc.)
7) Shoot in such a manner to impact the berm and
prevent ricochets.
A. Do not discharge firearms on the club property in other than
designated areas (Shoot on ranges only).
B. DO NOT move target frames. The target frame
positions are located to best prevent bullets from leaving the range area when shooting is
normal (perpendicular) to the firing lines.
C. Shoot from the concrete deck(s) only. No shooting
on ground level.
D. No shooting on the rifle deck at less than 100
yards.
i. For 25 or 50 yard shooting, use the pistol
deck.
ii. Range officers may waive this rule during organized
events with executive committee approval.
E. Fire shotguns on the shotgun range only.
(Except slugs or sabots at 100 yards or greater).
F. DO NOT shoot shotguns into target boards.
This destroys them from rifle and pistol targets.
8) The discharge of select-fire (fully-automatic)
firearms is prohibited without prior written authorization of the executive
committee. This includes law enforcement departments.
9) Fire only hunting, self-defense, target, and
regular military ball (FMJ) ammunition only.
A. No firing of armor piercing, tracer, explosive, or incendiary
ammunition.
B. No firing of .50BMG and larger caliber firearms allowed
on range.
C. No detonating destructive devices on range. (i.e.
explosives, grenades, flash-bangs, etc.)
10) Do not put gun cases on shooting benches. Gun cases must be
placed on the deck or the back benches only so as not to obstruct the view of shooters and
range officers.
11) Willful violations of any of the above rules will subject the
violator(s) to Article VIII of the Club By-Laws regarding suspension and expulsion.
12) Destruction or vandalism of club property, including shooting the
target boards with shotguns, will subject violator(s) to expulsion from the club and
possible criminal prosecution.

Revised 7/2004
JEFF COOPERS FIREARMS SAFETY RULES
RULE 1
ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
The only exception to this occurs when one has a weapon in his hands and he has personally
unloaded it for checking. As soon as he puts it down, Rule 1 applies again.
RULE 2
NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY
You may not wish to destroy it, but you must be clear in your mind that you are quite
ready to if you let that muzzle cover the target. To allow a firearm to point at
another human being is a deadly threat, and should always be treated as such.
RULE 3
KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
This is the Golden Rule because its violation is responsible for about 80 percent of the
firearm disasters about which we read.
RULE 4
BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET
You never shoot at anything until you have positively identified it. You never fire
at a shadow, a sound, or a suspected presence. You shoot only when you know
absolutely what you are shooting at and what is beyond it.
